High School Resolves FM’s Late License Renewal Filings

With 78 watts of power, a high school-run radio station provides gold-based Country music to Hunterdon County, N.J. And, just like any other FCC-licensed facility, it must, like its students, get its paperwork done on time or be subject to a penalty.

In the case of WCVH-FM,  Hunterdon Central Regional High School is resolving its tardiness with the signing of a Consent Decree with the Commission.

The school was able to enter the decree with the understanding that the violations at
WCVH are first-time documentation matters within the parameters of Commission policy concerning documentation requirements by student-run noncommercial radio stations.

A compliance plan is being established, while the school will be paying a $500 civil penalty to the U.S. Treasury to fully fix the error of its ways.

Flemington is to the northwest of Trenton, and WCVH’s signal cannot be heard in Mercer County, nor in nearby Bucks County, Pa.
