Gomez Takes Diversity Vice Chair Slot For ACDDE

Anna M. Gomez, partner in Wiley Rein LLP’s Telecom, Media & Technology Practiceand co-chair of the firm’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Practice, yesterday was named Vice Chair of the Advisory Committee on Diversity and Digital Empowerment (ACDDE) by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In addition to the appointment of Ms. Gomez, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced the names of a new Chair and a Member of the ACDDE in a public notice on the FCC’s website.


In welcoming Ms. Gomez to her new position, Chairman Pai stated: “Anna is a recognized expert in regulatory, policy, and transactional matters concerning domestic and international telecommunications. Anna will bring a fresh perspective and a ‘can-do’ attitude to the challenging issues we are committed to addressing with this advisory committee.”

Ms. Gomez previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. She advises clients in regulatory, policy, and transactional matters related to domestic and international telecommunications and unmanned aircraft systems. Ms. Gomez also serves as chair of Wiley Rein’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and was recently named Secretary of the Federal Communications Bar Association.

The ACDDE — first announced by Chairman Pai in April 2017 —provides advice and recommendations to the FCC regarding how to empower disadvantaged communities and accelerate the entry of small businesses, including those owned by women and minorities, into the media, digital news and information, and audio and video programming industries.
