She’s served as the Chief Marketing Officer at iHeartMedia and as one of company’s key forward-facing leaders at high-profile Cannes Lions events for the last several years. Now, after a decade in the position, Gayle Troberman is shifting to a senior advisor role at the nation’s largest owner of broadcast radio stations.

Troberman, who served as Chief Marketing and Ideas Officer at IPG Mediabrands until joining iHeartMedia in October 2014, will continue to be actively involved in “important industry and B2B events” including the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Cannes Lions in France, a hefty expense for the company that continues to deal with billions of dollars in debt.

In a company memo obtained by RBR+TVBR, iHeartMedia saluted Troberman for being instrumental in efforts to strengthen the iHeartMedia reputation with major national marketing and advertising partners.

However, iHeartMedia added, “the most creative people often thrive on change, and with that in mind we want to let you know that Gayle has decided to transition from her role as our CMO.”

She will continue to lead thought leadership projects including iHeartMedia’s “New American Consumer” studies. “Gayle will also continue to help our clients understand how to use radio, digital audio and podcasting, and will actively work with our sales teams and largest clients to develop creative ideas and unique solutions that maximize all our assets and platforms to solve their most important marketing needs,” iHeartMedia said.

In closing, the company said Troberman “has had a major impact on this company as its first CMO, and we fully expect her impact to continue in her new role. We’re truly appreciative of her innovative thinking, insights and the work she has done for us as our CMO, and we’re pleased Gayle will continue her contributions to the company in this new role.”

Troberman’s past experience includes a role as Chief Creative Officer at Microsoft from January 1996 through February 2012.
