For nearly 13 years, he advocated for broadcast television and radio as a member of the NAB’s Media Relations and Communications corps. As 2024 began, this longtime Washington, D.C., PR pro joined an advocacy organization squarely opposed to much of what the NAB has advocated for on behalf of its television industry members.

Now, Zamir Ahmed has earned a promotion at ACA Connects.

Ahmed has been promoted to Senior Vice President of External Affairs at the Pittsburgh-headquartered group that represents the interests of small and independent cable and broadband service providers across the U.S.

Ahmed will assume a greater role in leading day-to-day operations, including membership recruitment, retention and outreach efforts. He will continue leading government relations and external affairs strategies to advance ACA Connects’ policies and perspectives to diverse audiences, including legislators, federal officials, policymakers, industry partners and other stakeholders.

Previous to his time at the NAB, Ahmed worked as the Deputy Press Secretary for the House Committee on Small Business.

In related news, Bill Tortoriello has been promoted to Vice President of Technology & Policy. Tortoriello. He joined ACA Connects in June 2023 and will serve as the organization’s point person on member outreach and education related to technology and its intersection with public policy. He will continue his role on the Regulatory Team assisting in technical research, complex compliance issues, and ACAC member education.

Previously, Tortoriello was Director of Regulatory Policy at UScellular.
