Since October 2015, she has served as VP/Market Manager of the company’s radio brands serving Syracuse, N.Y. Now, she’s adding responsibilities in two markets that had been under the leadership of Jim Riley.

Cumulus Media has promoted Beth Coughlin to Regional Vice President for its Syracuse and Buffalo-Niagara Falls, N.Y., and its Erie, Pa., radio stations.

“We are pleased to expand Beth’s responsibilities over these three key markets for Cumulus,” said Cumulus Media President of Operations Bob Walker. “Her deep experience and effectiveness as a leader make her a natural choice for this enhanced role.”

Coughlin joined the Syracuse station group comprised of Top 40 WNTQ “93Q,” Sports WSKO-AM “The Score 1260,” Alternative WAQX “95X” and online-only Adult Alternative offering “SGNL Syracuse” as VP/Sales in September 2015 and was quickly promoted. Previously, she served as VP/Sales for Galaxy Communications’ Syracuse stations (from December 2009-May 2014), rising from Market Manager of the company’s Utica-Rome, N.Y., properties (from August 2005 through her promotion).

Coughlin began her career in TV ad sales, serving as GSM at WSYR-9 and WUTR-20, ABC affiliates serving Syracuse and Utica-Rome, under former owner Ackerley Communications.

“I am delighted to be working with the Cumulus teams in Buffalo and Erie,” she said. “We will continue to serve advertisers and community partners with the strength of heritage stations, leveraging our powerful marketing platforms of audio and digital.”

Cumulus Media’s Buffalo stations are comprised of Alternative WEDG “103.3 The Edge,” Classic Rock WGRF “97 Rock,” Talk WHLD-AM 1270, Classic Hits WHTT-FM 104.1 and W255DH “Hot 98.9,” a Top 40 station designed to compete against Audacy’s WKSE “Kiss 98.5” in central Buffalo.

In Erie, Cumulus’ holdings are comprised of WRIE-AM 1260, a CBS Sports Radio affiliate; Classic Rock WQHZ “Z102.3,” Adult Contemporary WXKC “Classy 100” and R&B-formatted WXKC HD2 “104.3 The Vibe,” and Country WXTA “NASH FM 97.9.”

A Cumulus spokesperson did not immediately respond to RBR+TVBR‘s request for comment regarding the status of Riley, who is a 20-year Cumulus/Buffalo veteran who served as GSM from 2003-2005. He then became VP/Market Manager in Erie, before returning for a similar role in Buffalo in May 2018. In June 2021, he took on both Erie and Buffalo.
