Coloff Media was founded by Tony and Sue Coloff in 1978. Today, it is a nationally recognized operation with properties including 2020 NAB Crystal Heritage Award winner KCVM-FM 93.5 “The Mix” in Waterloo, Iowa.

Now run by Jim Coloff, the company has agreed to expand with the purchase of an AM/FM combo and FM translator in a town due north of the Quad Cities.

According to an asset purchase agreement signed on August 29 and submitted Tuesday for regulatory approval, Dennis Voy and his Maquoketa Broadcasting Co. have agreed to sell KMAQ-AM & FM and FM translator K223DA in Maquoketa, Iowa to Coloff Media and related entity Delaware County Broadcasting Inc.

A $400,000 purchase price has been agreed upon, with a $5,000 escrow payment made to the seller. It is being held by  Beecher, Field, Walker, Moris, Hoffman & Johnson, P.C.

No broker or finder is involved in this transaction, which sees Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk serve as Coloff Media’s legal counsel.

Once the transaction closes, KMAQ-AM & FM and the FM translator will become siblings to stations serving Cedar Falls-Waterloo; Charles City-New Hampton; Forest City-Britt; Manchester; and Mason City-Osage, Iowa.
