Shortly after NABOB Executive Director Jim Winston proposed a potential policy shift in an ex parte filing with the FCC that might help the state of African American commercial television station ownership via JSAs and JSAs, FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai met with WLOO-TV (My TV network) in Jackson, MS. He sang the praises of how a JSA with American Spirit Media’s WDBD-TV (Fox) has worked well for the station. Said Pai:

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn defended the controversial "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs" (CIN) newsroom study in a speech at the Media Institute 2/26. The proposed FCC study of how media organizations gather news incited a powerful backlash from both liberal and conservative media and pundits, who said that it could be part of an official effort to intimidate or second-guess journalists.
Petition for Reconsideration dismissed on KTDK-FM
Peter Doyle Chief, Audio Division Media Bureau, has denied a 10/21/13 Petition for Reconsideration jointly filed by Whitley Media (Media Services Group broker Bill Whitley) and North Texas Radio Group seeking reconsideration of a 9/19/13, staff decision dismissing an application which sought approval for a proposed assignment of license for KTDK-FM 104.1, Sanger, TX (Dallas-Fort Worth) from Susquehanna Radio, a subsidiary of Cumulus Media, to Whitley.

The fight goes for reconsideration of the FCC’s 12/16/13 ruling denying must carry for WEYW-LP Key West, FL. Rick Bellizzi, CEO of Bellizzi Broadcasting sent a filing for reconsideration in on 1/15. Now there has been another filing, a previous lawsuit surfacing from another local broadcaster vs. Comcast and another filing from another LP in Key West, supporting Bellizzi. Bellizzi shared them with RBR-TVBR.
