How tepid is the transaction scene as 2018 limps toward a most-unexciting conclusion? Two Form 345 FM translator applications were filed at the FCC on Monday. One involves a license transfer into a trust controlled by the widow of an operator who died in 2013. The other involves a deal valued at one U.S. dollar.

The Texas city of Del Rio, a home to 40,500, is known in radio lore for being home to a cross-border "blaster" with 250kw of power that in the early 1960s featured Wolfman Jack. It is here, in Del Rio, where an AM/FM combo is being sold.

Stop the presses: A company best-known for its four radio stations along the Jersey Shore has just landed a low-powered television station in the Big Apple. It will be paired with a full-power facility in NYC.

An attorney in Scottsdale, Ariz., who grew up in Michigan, has always wanted to own a radio station. His dream has just become a reality, as he is ready to file a Form 314 with the FCC reflecting his purchase of a radio station in Central New York.

A broadcast industry figure also known as the founder of now-defunct West Coast electronics retailer Good Guys has elected to sell an FM translator in the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa. The buyer is a "selective, private liberal arts and sciences college," founded in 1860 by Swedish settlers.

On Oct. 1, TRANSACTIONS TODAY reported on the acquisition of an AM with an FM translator companion and a full-powered FM station in Illinois. Due to a clerical error, a second translator was omitted from the Asset Purchase Agreement filed with the FCC

An FM translator presently serving a community in Mississippi has been sold. The buyer plans to change its call sign, and its dial position, and relocate the facility to a city in Louisiana.

"True. Local. Radio." That's the motto for a radio group operating a pair of FMs serving an area of Colorado known for its famed ski resort. This company is now adding a third FM, on the road to Glenwood Springs.

It may be 39 degrees in the Washington, D.C., area today, but the transactions pipeline to the FCC is frozen. There were no new transactions today, making the second half of 2018 a rather dull one for deal makers.

In two FCC filings made Monday, it became known that this nascent company is gaining a 250-watt FM translator in a small North Carolina city, along with a second, unbuilt FM translator and a Class D AM. A big player in the Carolinas is involved. Also in TRANSACTIONS TODAY: A Geos grab in NE Penna.

Some 100 miles to the southwest of Kansas City is a small town with an FM transmitter for what had been the home of a "true" Christian AC non-comm. The station is now an internet-only operation, as the licensee is selling the presently dark Class A that had been its over-the-air home.

The town of Junction, Tex., is known for its presence in Hill Country -- a recreational and viticultural area to the west of Austin. Here, a 1kw Class C AM is being traded. The buyer likely knows the lyrics to "Rocky Top" by heart.

There's a radio broadcaster in Texas that is celebrating 56 years of “of keeping him close by.” This Houston-based operation is growing again, five months after adding an AM/FM combo in a town known as the home of Fort Concho.

A station that has marketed itself as the only Spanish-language station serving the "Four Corners" region of the American West is being sold. It's a "Majestic" deal that includes an AM with an FM translator.
