No date set for digital radio in U.K.
No date has been set for when national radio stations will stop broadcasting on FM as too few people currently listen on digital devices, the UK Government has confirmed with Yahoo News. Culture Minister Ed Vaizey said 35.6% of radio listening is currently done via digital devices (DAB radio and the internet). An official switchover can take place when this figure hits 50% and when existing FM coverage has been replicated on DAB networks.
Macy’s enters the Top 10
Just in time for the holidays and according to the Media Monitors TV SPOT TEN, the #1 advertiser on Broadcast TV was Walmart with 28,011 spots. Coming in #2 was the ABC TV Network with 20,149 announcements, while Target landed at #3 with 18,954 spots. Univision was #4 airing 18,936 spots and the NBC TV Network remained at #5 with 18,321 spots.

Charter readying offer for Time Warner Cable
Charter Communications is preparing an offer letter of cash and stock to acquire Time Warner Cable for under $135 a share as early as next week, according to a Bloomberg story: “A bid of $135 a share would value TWC at about $62 billion, including the value of its debt. That’s about 7.5 times estimates for its 2014 EBITDA of $8.24 billion, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Charter currently trades at a multiple of 8.7 times estimated 2014 EBITDA, while Comcast fetches 7.5 times.”
