Linking radio station tuning data to consumer purchase information is the best way to ensure that radio advertising is being heard by consumers who are eager to listen, so says a report from Nielsen Audio. According to a recent major market pilot test by Nielsen, for the first time, a connection can be drawn between what consumers listen to on the radio and how they spend.
Entravision Q4 was down 6%
Entravision Q4’s revenue was $60.1 million, down 6% compared to Q4 of 2012. The decline was solely due to almost $9 million of nonrecurring political revenues that were booked during the quarter. Of the overall decrease, $2.7 million was generated by their television segment and was also attributable to a decrease in political ad revenue. $1.0 million of the overall decrease was generated by the radio side, also from a decrease in political ad revenue.
Salem Q4 up 3.5%
Salem Communications’ Q4 revenue increased 3.5% to $62.7 million from $60.6 million in Q4 2012. Total operating expenses were up 5.3% to $53.0 million from $50.3 million. Net broadcast revenue were up slightly--1.0% to $47.4 million from $47.0 million. Station operating income decreased 4.0% to $15.8 million from $16.5 million; and same station net broadcast revenue increased 0.2% to $47.0 million from $46.9 million.
