An AM with an FM translator licensed to serve a rural swath of West Virginia above Interstate 64 near New River Gorge National Park is being sold. The new owner will be charged with bringing the facilities back from silence.

WYKM-AM 1250 in Rupert, W. Va., and partner W229CY in Rupert, are presently dark under Special Temporary Authority.

When Southern Communications Corp. assumes control, it will be their task to resume broadcasts for the facilities.

Southern is acquiring WYKM & W229CY from MT State B. Co. for $30,000. A $6,000 escrow payment is being held with Edward D. Knight III.

There is no broker or finder associated with this transaction. The seller’s legal counsel is Kathleen Victory of Fletcher Heald & Hildreth.
