It serves the blue-collar communities of Groton, New London and Norwich, Conn., with a Class A signal that as of today airs a Classic Hits format and is branded as a “Big” choice for local listeners.
Soon, that will change, as Hall Communications has sold the station to the nation’s biggest purveyor of CCM programming.
WKNL-FM 100.9 in New London, Conn., will soon be owned by K-LOVE Inc., pending FCC approval of a transaction that sees Hall earn $481,000 from the sale of the FM.
A $24,050 deposit has been made by K-LOVE, which was represented by Jon Yinger of Broadcast Properties LLC. Hall’s broker of record is Todd Fowler of Fowler Media Consulting.
Serving as legal counsel for the seller is Susan Marshall of Shainis & Peltzman; the legal representative for the buyer is, once again, Paige Fronabarger of Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP.
This deal follows the mid-March announcement by Hall that it is agreeing to sell WCTK-FM 98.1 in New Bedford, Mass., serving neighboring Providence, R.I., as well as Fall River, Mass., and much of Cape Cod. The buyer of that property is John Fuller’s Red Wolf Broadcasting Corp.
Hall is paring down its radio assets, with properties remaining in its headquarters of Norwich, Conn., as well in Willimantic, Conn., and in Burlington, Vt. In late February, Hall Communications announced that it was exiting Lakeland-Winter Haven, Fla., with a transaction giving MARC Radio Group ownership of Country WPCV-FM, two AMs and three FM translators.
