They are properties operated by Sinclair Inc. via a shared services agreement with a licensee operated by political commentator and entrepreneur Armstrong Williams. On August 20, Williams moved forward with turning that SSA into outright ownership for the Baltimore-headquartered company helmed by Chris Ripley.
The FCC has granted the assignment of authorization request.
Thus, closing is imminent for the sale of WGWG-TV in Charleston, S.C., affiliated with Weigel Broadcasting’s MeTV Network to Sinclair from Williams-led Howard Stirk Holdings (HSH).
And, while WGWG are the sole call letters shown in the Form 314 filing, the asset purchase agreement passing muster with the Commission confirms that Sinclair is also ready to close on the purchase of KHSV-TV in Las Vegas; WGWW-TV in Anniston, Ala., aligned with the Heroes & Icons digital multicast network WSES-TV in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
A $3.25 million purchase price was agreed to but is adjustable should liabilities or HSH obligations tied to expenses warrant a reduction in value.
The asset purchase agreement also disclosed that $3 million in capital expenditure investments had been earmarked by Sinclair Inc., and includes antenna and transmission equipment upgrades for KHSV-TV.
