NORTHVILLE, MICH. — From automotive brands such as Chrysler and Dodge to Jeep and Ram, all four are within the parent company known as Stellantis. The company is also home to Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Fiat and heritage European automakers Citroen, Opel and Peugeot.
Thanks to a just-signed deal, a globally distributed audio streaming app owned by a Canadian company with a radio broadcasting division will become an OEM offering in Stellantis vehicles.
The agreement sees Stingray-owned TuneIn earn direct access in the in-dash entertainment systems for “select” future Stellantis vehicles. Specific models and brands were not disclosed, nor were financial terms.
For TuneIn CEO Rich Stern, “Stellantis is an incredible partner that shares our vision for creating exceptional in-car experiences. Our teams have been working closely together to create an experience that feels like a natural extension of each vehicle while giving drivers seamless access to the world’s best live audio.”
TuneIn enjoys partnerships with most U.S.-based radio broadcasting companies, including Audacy, Cumulus Media, Hubbard Radio, Beasley Media Group and iHeartRadio.
Stingray noted that bringing TuneIn to Stellantis is part of a broader strategy to expand automotive access to its audio catalog. “Through this integration, Stingray is positioned to significantly strengthen its global automotive presence and accelerate the rollout of branded in-vehicle audio experiences,” the company said.
In Canada, Stingray owns such radio stations as CHBM “Boom 97.3” in Toronto, an Adult Hits station that ranks among the nation’s most listened-to music offerings.
