In August 2021, the Assistant News Director of KSNV-TV in Las Vegas relocated to Charleston, W. Va., to serve as News Director of Sinclair Inc.’s WCHS-TV and Cunningham Broadcasting-licensed shared services partner WVAH-TV.
Starting in late August, he’ll be taking on ND duties for Lockwood Broadcast Group‘s ABC affiliate in Wichita.
That would be KAKE-TV. “After an incredible chapter in Charleston, I’m so excited to share that I’ve accepted the position,” Wade Parsons shared via his LinkedIn profile.
Parsons continued, “This opportunity is both professionally thrilling and deeply humbling. I am incredibly grateful to the leadership at Lockwood Broadcast Group for their confidence in me, and I truly can’t wait to join the wonderful team of journalists at KAKE as we continue serving the communities of south-central Kansas together.”
He added that he’s especially excited to be back within driving distance of his “very large” extended family in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
“Leaving WCHS is certainly bittersweet,” Parsons continued. “During my time there, I had the absolute privilege of working alongside some of the most dedicated and talented journalists I’ve ever known. Together, we covered breaking news, investigative stories that brought about real change, and strengthened our digital content to be the best in the region. Most importantly, we served our viewers every day. I’m so proud of everything we accomplished, and I’ll always be deeply grateful to my wonderful colleagues, mentors, and friends at WCHS, and all around Sinclair, who helped shape my career and trusted me with the opportunity to lead.”
As Parsons begins this next chapter, he says his focus “is wonderfully simple: to listen, learn, build meaningful relationships, and help nurture a newsroom where outstanding journalism and a positive, supportive culture go hand in hand. I truly believe great newsrooms are built by talented people who challenge each other, lift one another up, and never stop looking for better ways to serve their communities.”
Parsons has also worked at WJAR-TV in Providence.
