In early February, RBR+TVBR shared the details surrounding the exit of Mary Quass-led NRG Media from the Omaha-Council Bluffs radio market after more than two decades. Now, broker of record Kalil & Co. has shared the news that NRG Media is agreeing to sell a collection of radio stations and FM translators in Wisconsin. The buyer is the privately held operation led by Peter Tanz.
A contract has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC that will see the transfer of the following properties to Midwest Communications in a deal valued at $2.5 million:

WLKD-AM 1570, W289CT at 105.7 MHz, and WMQA-FM 95.7 in Minocqua, Wisc.

WOBT-AM 1240, W267AF at 101.3 MHz, WHDG-FM 97.3, and WRHN-FM 100.1 in Rhinelander, Wisc.

WBCV-FM 107.9 in Wausau, Wisc.

WGLX-FM 103.3 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.

WHTQ-FM 96.7 in Whiting, Wisc.

WYTE-FM 106.5 in Marshfield, Wisc.

WRLO-FM 105.3 in Antigo, Wisc.
A $125,000 escrow deposit is being held by Kalil & Co.
Officially, the stations are being transferred to Midwest-aligned “WRIG, Inc.” Commenting on the deal, Tanz said, “Mary and her entire team have built an outstanding community service organization in Wisconsin. For over a century, the Wright family has proudly called Central Wisconsin home. We are honored to add NRG’s Wisconsin stations to our home market.”
Quass added, “We are proud of the great broadcasters in Wisconsin that we have proudly worked with and are happy they will continue serving Wisconsin with [Midwest Communications].”
According to a LMS filing made with the FCC, the assignor is NRG-aligned “Raven License Sub LLC.” Quass’ legal counsel is John Burgett of Wiley Law, while Midwest’s legal representative in front of the Commission is David Oxenford of Wilkinson Barker Knauer.
Once this transaction closes, NRG’s remaining properties will be comprised of three FMs and KXEL-AM in the Cedar Rapids/Waterloo, Iowa area; KLIN-AM, KLNC-FM, KBBK-FM, KFGE-FM and two FM translators in Lincoln, Neb.; and WCMY-FM, WRKX-FM and an FM translator in Ottawa, Ill.
