He’s a former Cyber Defense executive for Comcast’s NBCUniversal unit and has similar experience at GE, U.S. Bank and at Walmart. Now, he’s heading up the information security team at The E.W. Scripps Co., taking his new role on October 20.

Daniel Parsons is now the Chief Information Security Officer for publicly traded Scripps.

This puts Parsons in the driver’s seat as the leader of Scripps’ enterprise cybersecurity strategy, making him responsible for protecting the integrity, availability and confidentiality of digital content, newsroom systems, intellectual property and consumer data.

At NBCU he was VP of Cyber Defense.

“Daniel brings a track record of building an employee culture of shared cybersecurity responsibility and managing complex security operations across multiple brands,” said Scripps Chief Information Officer Laura Tomlin, who Parsons reports to. “His
leadership will be mission-critical in safeguarding consumer trust and company data, and in creating the secure foundation we need to innovate, expand our offerings and drive sustainable growth.”

Parsons serves on the Ohio Board of Directors for NPower, a national nonprofit organization that offers free technology training and job placement assistance to young adults and military veterans and their spouses.
