At the close of 2018, Susan McEldoon retired from broadcast television, exiting as VP/GM of TEGNA‘s CBS affiliate in Houston. Succeeding her in the role of VP/Station Manager was the Director of Advertising and Promotion for the company’s KUSA-9 in Denver, Bobby Springer.
Springer departed the station on April 12. We now know who the new leader of KHOU-11 is.
Taking the role of President/GM at KHOU, effective May 20, is David Loving.
He is being promoted from similar duties at TEGNA’s WOI-5 and KCWI-23 in Des Moines.
It’s a return to Houston for Loving, who served as President/GM of Univision’s Houston operation from 2010-2019.
“Among a deep pool of candidates, David stood out for his understanding of what it truly means to ‘Stand for Houston,’” said Brad Ramsey, TEGNA’s SVP/Media Operations. “His previous experience in Houston is invaluable, and I’m excited to see all that he and the talented KHOU team can accomplish together.”
Loving said, ”Returning to Houston, one of the greatest cities in the U.S., fills me with immense excitement. Teaming up with the outstanding professionals at KHOU, I am eager to reconnect with Houston’s vibrant community and valued clients and celebrate the rich diversity that makes the city truly exceptional.”
Loving spent 25 1/2 years in Univision, and took the role in Houston in August 2010 after 17 months as SVP/Regional Director for the company’s Univision and UniMás operations in San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Salt Lake City.
He began his career as an Account Executive for Univision’s San Antonio television stations, in April 1994.
