ATLANTA — The biggest city in the South is getting its newest professional sports team, and it has selected a Gray Television over-the-air broadcast brand — and not a MVPD-distributed specialty channel — as its inaugural local TV partner.

In this case, the winning point goes to Peachtree Sports Network.

That’s the newly created free-to-air offering housed at WPCH-17.2 in Atlanta, an offshoot of WPCH-DT’s “Peachtree TV” programming found on the 17.1 channel.

And, it is welcoming the Atlanta Vibe Pro Volleyball Federation club’s games to Peachtree Sports Network.

Vibe matches that will air locally, beginning with the March 21 match against the Orlando Valkyries.

“This partnership will provide another opportunity for Atlantans to cheer on their city’s newest professional sports team and turn our athletes into household names across the Southeast,” said Colleen Craig, owner of the Atlanta Vibe. “Our roster is comprised of some of the best volleyball players in the world and the Vibe is currently leading the Pro Volleyball Federation, so we’re thankful to Peachtree TV and Gray Television for giving our team the platform to showcase their talents to an even larger audience.”

Longtime Atlanta sports play-by-play broadcaster Andy Demetra and veteran volleyball analyst Kele Eveland will call the Vibe’s home matches throughout the 2024 season.

“We are thrilled to bring pro volleyball into Atlanta homes,” said Erik Schrader, VP/GM of WPCH and CBS affiliated sibling WANF-46. “Atlanta’s newest pro team is now on Atlanta’s only live, local sports network, and that’s a win for us, a win for the Vibe, and a win for Atlanta sports fans.”

The Atlanta Vibe are one of seven teams competing in the Professional Volleyball Federation’s first-ever season; the team is the city’s second fully professional women’s sports team.

Peachtree Sports Network, which launched in October 2023, is now home to live broadcasts for the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA, the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League, the Atlanta Gladiators and Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL, the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League, and the Atlanta Hustle of the American Ultimate Disc League. WANF, WPCH, and Peachtree Sports Network also partnered with the Atlanta
Hawks to broadcast 10 games this season.

In addition to on-air coverage, PSN is distributed by Spectrum, Xfinity, and YouTube TV. PSN also broadcasts over the air in Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah, Georgia.
