WASHINGTON, D.C. — The woman who has served as FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr‘s Legal Advisor since 2021 has departed the agency.

Who is Danielle Thumann‘s successor in the office of the Republican Commissioner seeking a renomination confirmation in the U.S. Senate?

Joining Carr’s office is Lauren Garry, who Carr says “brings a broad range of policy knowledge and legal expertise to the job.” And, he adds, “her experience in both the public and private sectors will be a strong asset for the office.”

Garry joins Carr’s office from the Wireline Competition Bureau’s Telecommunications
Access Policy Division, where she focused on the High-Cost Program, including the Connect America Fund and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund. Garry also served as the Designated Federal Officer for the Precision Agriculture Connectivity Task Force.

Before entering the Commission through the Attorney Honors Program, Lauren was a Law Clerk to the Honorable William S. Colwell in the Office of Administrative Law Judges at the Department of Labor. She has also worked for Comcast Corporation, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Lauren Garry received her J.D. cum laude and M.B.A. from American University.
