Harvard Awards Honorary Doctorate To Radio Bilingüe Founder

His journey started as a nine-year-old Oaxacan immigrant who settled in Northern California. Growing up in an agricultural labor camp, he witnessed the power of radio as a means of communication and information for Latino agricultural workers.


Almost a half-century after co-founding his radio network in Fresno, he is the first Mexican-Indigenous recipient of an honorary doctorate from Harvard University, receiving the award alongside Tom Hanks and biochemist Katalin Karikó.
