It serves Coastal Oregon between Coos Bay and Florence with an 11kw Class C3 facility licensed to Reedsport. Today, it is known as a home of rock ‘n’ roll. Will that be changing?
It’s possible, as Bicoastal Media is agreeing to sell them. Why? It’s buying another FM — and it has a tower on a ridge due west of central Coos Bay, giving the company a boost in the city.
Twin deals have been filed for FCC approval. One sees Bicoastal Media agreeing to sell KJMX-FM 99.5 “The Rock” to W7 Broadcasting Co.
It is earning $10,000 from the sale of the station. Full payment is due at closing; there is no broker or finder associated with the transaction.
W7 is led by Carl Widing, while Michael R. Wilson serves as President/COO of Eugene, Ore.-based Bicoastal, which is agreeing to purchase KDCQ-FM 92.9 in Coos Bay from Bay Cities Building Company.
This is the bigger deal, and Bicoastal is paying $300,000 for the facility. A $15,000 deposit has been made and is being held by Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl, Rose & Podolsky, P.A., of
Moorestown, N.J., the escrow agent in this transaction.
The remainder will be paid in full at closing.
At present, KDCQ is branded as “K-DOCK 92.9,” and is a Classic Hits format.
Will “The Rock” replace “K-DOCK.” Neither General Manager Stephanie Kilmer nor Operations Manager Mike Chavez were available and each station representative had full voicemails when contacted by RBR+TVBR during the Noon hour on Thursday (4/13).
