On April 27, 2022, Robert Pritts, who owned an AM radio station with an FM translator serving Uniontown, Pa., passed away. This placed his 50% ownership of the company in an estate, which his wife was to oversee as Executrix.
That is now in the process of being changed, as one of Pritts’ sons says that scenario is no longer possible.
WMBS-AM 590, a 1kw Class B with an FM translator at 101.1 MHz serving the Fayette County seat south of Pittsburgh, was placed in Pritts’ estate with the intent of having Catherine Pritts as the executrix.
However, Robert Pritts’ son, Steven Pritts, now tells the Commission that Catherine Pritts has been experiencing symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease since 2021.
On August 9, 2021, Mrs. Pritts executed a Durable Power of Attorney granting Steven Pritts the ability to exercise her rights when symptoms were too great.
Upon Robert Pritts’s death, Pritts declined the responsibility of Executorship in favor of her two sons, Robert and Steven. “Currently, Mrs. Pritts’s symptoms have become constant and she can no longer make decisions for herself,” Steven tells the Commission.
As such, Steven Pritts is seeking the involuntary passing of control over the corporation by Mrs. Pritts to him.
