For more than 10 years, New York Spectrum Holding Company — controlled by Chau-Chi “Charles” Wong — has engaged in the acquisition of low-power broadcast TV stations.
In recent weeks, Wong has emerged as a seller, and has agreed to spin LPTVs in Florida to Ravi Kapur. Now, Wong is exiting Houston.
KQHO-LD in Houston, which enjoys a channel sharing agreement with KBPX-LD, identifies itself as Channel 56, using digital channel 20.
And, it is being spun to Word Texas Broadcasting, managed by Dr. Bob Rodgers.
Rodgers is the Senior Pastor of Evangel World Prayer Center in Louisville, with a membership of more than 9,000. He is also president of Word Broadcasting Network and with his wife, Margaret, co-hosts the Christian television program “Word Alive.”

Word Broadcasting owns and operates a host of radio and TV stations across the U.S., including WJIE-FM 88.5 and WBNA-21 in Louisville.
The KQHO deal is valued at $600,000, with a first deposit of $100,00 paid to the buyer on August 3. A second $100,000 payment was made August 4. The $400,000 balance is to be paid in cash at closing.
Wong’s legal counsel in the transaction is Kathleen Victory of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth. The buyer’s legal counsel is Anthony Lepore.
