Monte Spearman’s Selling Spurt Continues

Multiple deals in the last two weeks suggest High Plains Radio Network (HPRN), the entity led by Monte Spearman, is refining his stable of assets.

The regional broadcast company has engaged in multiple station sales, with filings with the FCC including the $5,000 spin of a Class C3 Country station in Arkansas.

Now, HPRN is dealing two AMs, two FMs and a FM translator — also in Arkansas — to the same party that is getting that Country station.

In a deal signed off on Feb. 21 and posted by the FCC on Tuesday (3/3), HPRN is selling KZYP-AM in Malvern, KVRC-AM & KDEL-FM in Arkadelphia, KYXK-FM in Gurdon and FM translator K281CK in Sheridan, Ark.

The buyer is Big Mountain Home, a.k.a. Broadcast Industry Group.

The licensee is based in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is led by Charles Jayson Brentlinger.

BIG on Feb. 28 was revealed to be the buyer of KCMC-FM 94.3 in Viola, Ark., a Class C3 branded as “Mountain Country.”

This deal sees Brentlinger paying $20,000 for the five assets — a sign that HPRN could not effectively monetize them.
