A Morning Man’s Big Buy

Travel west of Terre Haute, Ind., on U.S. 40, into Illinois and you’ll see the radio tower for a Class A FM licensed to the town of Marshall.

It’s a property that’s now being sold, with the station’s tower lease being transferred to another Land of Lincoln-based buyer.

The guy buying the station is very familiar with it: He hosts the morning show.

In a transaction valued at $700,000, JDL Broadcasting is selling WMMC-FM 105.9 in Marshall to JKO Media Group.

A $10,000 escrow deposit has been made.

The deal includes JDL’s lease for the broadcast tower visible from the highway.

It also includes the studio and office lease for WMMC at 627 1/2 Archer Avenue in Marshall, Ill.

The buyer is led solely by Joseph K. O’Rourke, hence the company name. He resides in Marshall, and as “Joey O’Rourke” handles the 5am-9am CT shift on WMMC.

The seller’s VP, Lori Spangler, signed off on the sale, which does not include a broker or finder.

The selling group also includes JD Spangler, the 2pm-5pm CT host.

WMMC airs a Classic Hits format.
