Alpha Tops Deal Chart with Lubbock Buy

SoldThe latest move from Alpha Media is the move into Lubbock TX and – drum roll please – it’s the new deal of the year. Four high-powered FM stations are coming from Wilks Broadcasting. Broker: Michael J. Bergner, Bergner & Co.

The stations, all Class C1s, are KLLL-FM, KONE-FM, KBTE-FM & KMMX-FM.

It’s a powerhouse local group. In the Fall Nielsen Audio 12+ chart, out of 16 subscribing stations, KLLL and KBTE were tied for the top slot, KONE was #5 and KMMX was #11.

The price makes this the one to beat as 2015 station trading gets off to a slow start. The price is $23M.

Alpha’s January acquisition of three FMs on the outskirts of San Francisco was on top of the deal value mountain prior to the Lubbock announcement. That one, which brought in KKIQ-FM, KKDV-FM & KUIC-FM from Coast Radio, weighed in at $11.15M.

So in taking the lead from himself, Alpha’s Larry Wilson has double the ante.

Here’s a close-up of the stations coming from Wilks:

Country KLLL-FM is a Class C1 on 96.3 MHz with 100 kW @ 817’.

Classic Rock KONE-FM is a Class C1 on 101.1 MHz with 100 kW @ 863’.

Hot AC KMMX-FM Tahoka TX is a Class C1 on 100.3 MHz with 100 kW @ 883’.

Urban KBTE-FM Tulia TX is a Class C1 on MHz with 96.6 kW @ 978’.

All of the stations do a great job covering Lubbock and three are centered on it; KBTE is oriented to the northeast.
