Radio-DisneyYes, we’re talking Radio Disney, and we’re also talking Orlando. This will be the fourth Radio Disney station to be sold, and for the fourth time, a religious outfit is the buyer. This time, it is Salem Communication. Broker: William B. Schutz (seller)

The acquisition of WDYZ-AM will give Salem its fourth senior band station in Orlando.

Salem is using its Pennsylvania Media Associates license holding company for the purposes of the acquisition. It’s headed by Edward W. Epperson and Stuart G. Atsinger III.

The value of the deal is $1,300,000 cash.

Disney paid quite a bit more to acquire the station, shelling out $5M on 1/1/01 to get it from Cox.

WDYZ-AM is a Class B on 990 kHz with 50 kW-D, 14 kW-N, DA2.

It will be joining a cluster which includes:
Talk WORL-AM Altemonte Springs FL 660 kHz
Christian WTLN-AM Orlando FL 950 kHz
Business News WBZW-AM Apopka FL 1520 kHz

RBR-TVBR observation: We suspect that Salem will consider swapping formats among the quartet of AMs. WDTZ will become its premiere signal in the market at closing, followed by WORL, then WTLN, and then WBZW. All are Class B outlets.
