CBS is celebrating debut week for This Morning

Long stuck in third place for morning TV, CBS sees hope in the first week ratings for its latest competitor to NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The Eye Network is celebrating because ratings were up for the debut week of “CBS This Morning.”


CBS this Morning delivered a +5% increase in both households and viewers compared to pre-holiday weeks, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending January 13, 2012, the network announced  The new CBS broadcast also gained viewers over the course of the week.

The new CBS this Morning is hosted by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill. It replaced the latest incarnation of “The Early Show.”

The new program built viewership during the week.  The broadcast posted +10% gain in households Monday to Friday (2.2/08 from 2.0/07) and +8% in viewers (2.94m from 2.72m). 

The CBS this Morning debut week featured interviews with First Lady Michelle Obama, presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), film mogul Harvey Weinstein and actress Rooney Mara.
