A forecast of sales growth by Wal-Mart was good for retail stocks and for broadcasters who stand to benefit from their advertising. Also, good earnings reports by Dow Jones Industrial Average components 3M, Travelers, AT&T and McDonald’s gave a boost to the market. The DJIA rose 132 points, or 1.3%, to 10,081.
The RBR Radio Index rose 6.142, or 3.5%, to 183.987.
The TVBR Television Index rose 5.521, or 4.2%, to 136.831.
