After being the company’s top programmer since the Jacor years until late 2011, Tom Owens is leaving Clear Channel Media & Entertainment as EVP of Programming Research and Strategy. This, as CC’s Research division is integrated into its National Programming Platforms group under President Tom Poleman. The National Programming Platforms group includes music and event marketing like the iHeartRadio Music Festival, label and artist relations, on-air talent development, digital programming and a network of format-specific brand managers.
Owens was the company’s programming chief from 1998 until Poleman was upped to president of National Programming Platforms 10/12. He’ll now act as a programming consultant to the company. RBR-TVBR has also heard some folks at CC’s LA cluster have also been shown the door, but no details or confirmation yet…
