ION Media likes to call itself the #1 station group in terms of audience reach, and with a presence in all of the top 20 markets and many more in the top 100, it is a claim beyond dispute. However, just because people can tune in ION doesn’t mean they are.
The long list of call letters still retain their roots in the name of Bud Paxson and the old PAX network from which ION emerged, and the list of major markets is impressive.
A trio of investors just kicked in $150M in debtor-in-possession financing for a 62.5% stake in the company, buying under the legal name Media Holdco. The legal entity selling the stake is the ION Media Liquidating Trust. If liquidation is still the operating plan, here is what’s on the shelves.
