Radio Unica skips to my Liu
Radio Unica, which never did really get its O&O-based Spanish News-Talk network into the black, has agreed to sell all of its stations. The buyer is Arthur Liu's Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc, which ownsmulti-ethnic formatted stations in large markets in various US locations. Radio Unica's portfolio is also consists of AM stations concentrated in large markets, particularly those with significant Hispanic populations.
The deal is valued at $150M.
It appears that Liu will be re-evaluating the programming on the stations. The associated Radio Unica network and promo firm, Mass Promotions Inc., are not part of the deal.
As of 6/30, Radio Unica was some $170M in debt, meaning that it'll need to get some cash out of those two businesses if its shareholders hope to get any cash out of the deal.
