Why NAB is Moving

Ground-Breaking“As a member of Congress, you need to be 15 minutes away from a vote.” So said NAB President/CEO and former Senator Gordon Smith at a groundbreaking ceremony for the broadcast trade lobby’s new building.

That, in a nutshell, is why NAB is moving closer to Capitol Hill. By locating just about a mile from the Capitol, NAB is demonstrating “We’re here to stay because broadcasters are an essential cornerstone” to American business, said Smith.

When he was on the Senate Commerce Committee, Smith only visited the current building in Northwest once; the traffic was just too much.

NAB has been at its current location since 1947, (and the building has been renovated since then.)

The new building will be 10 stories and 130,000 square-feet of space; Condos will be built next door at the same time.

NAB expects the new space to be complete in fall 2018.
