What’s Up With Voltair?

FrankFotiNABWe’re hearing stations are tweaking the audio processing portion of their Voltair units to enhance the performance of the PPM watermark encoding process.

We wondered how that’s working since Nielsen has introduced its enhanced CBET technology.

Frank Foti of the Telos Alliance tells RBR+TVBR in an exclusive interview: “The industry tells us they’re seeing improvements in their ratings performance.”

Speaking about Nielsen’s recently introduced enhanced CBET, Foti says it’s too early to tell if there’s improvement or not. “We’re keeping an eye on it.”

There is an effect on how the watermark behaves because of Voltair and also because of how the audio processing portion of the unit is set. There are stations that are tweaking the processing to maximize PPM performance.

“We’re trying to do what we can to better the industry,” says Foti.
