Watchdogs continue to target Liberman talker

Prominent advocates for Hispanics and the LGBT community want Liberman Broadcasting to do something about the frequent perceived offenses of its “José Luis Sin Censura” program.

Taking up watchdog arms against the program are the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

The organizations say they have had numerous meetings with Liberman counsel Rocky Delgadillo asking that the company cease to make inflammatory and derogative comments about the LGBT community to no avail.

In a statement, the groups said, “As recently as May 30, episodes aired in which udiences chanted “puta” (“Whore! Whore! Whore!”) at a female guest, and the terms “puñal,” maricón” and “joto” (or “f*ggot”) were used. Audience members were allowed to chant “puto! puto! puto!” (or “f*ggot”) at a man they thought to be gay.”

NHMC is headed by Alex Nogales; GLAAD by Herndon Graddick
