‘Viewer and Listener Protection Act’ Gets NAB’s Applause

Republican Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas on Wednesday introduced legislation that would establish a new “Viewer and Listener Protection Fund” within the U.S. Treasury to make certain broadcasters nationwide can stay on air.


The move follows the introduction of similar legislation in the House of Representatives by Rep. Frank Pallone. His “Viewer Protection Act,” introduced July 20, establishes an additional fund in the U.S. Treasury “to ensure consumers do not lose access to over-the-air broadcast television as a result of the reorganization of broadcast television spectrum, and for other purposes” tied to the repack.
