This Future Station Is Getting A Little ‘KLOVE’

An unbuilt Class A FM station serving the Monroe, La., market will soon be spreading the word through Christian Contemporary Music, courtesy of Mike Novak’s ever-growing Educational Media Foundation.

That’s the lead deal in RBR+TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY, Weekend Edition, for June 9-11, 2017.

In a transaction valued at $110,000, EMF is acquiring the construction permit for KPDJ-FM 93.5 in Calhoun, La., from Bowen Broadcasting.

Terms call for EMF to deliver an escrow payment of $5,500 to escrow agent Sandi Bergman.

As is the case with most recent EMF transactions, David Oxenford of Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP served as its legal counsel.

In its Form 314 submission to the FCC, EMF confirmed that KPDJ would serve as an affiliate of its “KLOVE” Christian Adult Contemporary format.

A silent 1kw AM with 1 tower in Bakersfield, Calif., has been sold by Radio Vida Abundante to Punjabi American Media, headed by Balwinder Kaur Khalsa. The station is KLHC-AM 1350, which has been dark since a Jan. 29, 2017, incident in which a car crashed into the station’s broadcast tower, silencing the Spanish Religious facility.

Once a new tower is in place, the new owner will add its “Punjabi Radio USA” format to KLHC. It is already airing on KOBO-AM and translator K243CF in Yuba City, Calif., on KIID-AM in Sacramento, and on KWRU-AM in Fresno.

PAM is paying $300,000 for the presently dark facility; a 10% escrow deposit has been made to Washington, D.C.-based Dennis J. Kelly.
