Stocks fall for a fifth session on cliff concerns

Stocks ended sharply lower Friday as negotiations to avert steep spending cuts and tax hikes in the New Year showed little progress. President Barack Obama met with congressional leaders at the White House Friday afternoon, but a late-session report said he would not be putting a new offer on the table. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 158.20 points, or 1.2%, to 12,938.11, leaving it off 1.9% from the week-ago close.


The RBR Radio Index was down 3.416, or .8%, to 418.516.

The TVBR Television Index was up 4.706, or 1.5%, to 312.770.
