State Farm sponsors Z100’s Hometown Hero competition

Clear ChannelClear Channel’s CHR Z100 (WZHT-FM) New York announced the launch of Z100’s 4th annual Hometown Hero competition presented by State Farm and powered by Eventful. Area musicians will compete to win the chance to perform live at the Z100 and Coca-Cola All Access Lounge at Hammerstein Ballroom, which serves as the pre-event to Z100’s Jingle Ball, the annual holiday concert, on 12/13 at Madison Square Garden. The winner will be determined with the help of Eventful, and its Demand it! social media platform, which empowers bands to let their fans “Demand” they get the winning spot.


Last year’s winner, “The All Ways,” performed in front of more than 10,000 attendees at Z100 Coca-Cola’s All Access Lounge and was a part of a lineup that included Ed Sheeran, Cher Lloyd, Olly Murs and Bridgit Mendler.

From 10/14 until 11/4, unsigned artists and bands from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are invited to sign up for the chance to win Z100’s Hometown Hero contest at www.Z100.com keyword: Hometown Hero. Fans can vote for their favorite artist or band at http://eventful.com/Z100, and are prompted to spread the word virally, inviting their friends to demand their favorite artist or band via  Facebook and Twitter.

The top 25 artists with the most Demands will move to a semi-finals round on 11/5, which will then be narrowed down to the final five by an A-List panel of music industry judges on 11/8. Judges include Sharon Dastur, Program Director, Z100; JJ, afternoon on-air personality for Z100, Gary Spangler, SVP/Promotion, Republic Records and Lee Leipsner, EVP/Promotion, Columbia Records. The final winner will be selected by fans, who will have the chance to vote online once again. Final voting for the top five contestants will begin on 11/12 and will end 12/3. The winner will be announced 12/5 by Z100 ZJ Mo’ Bounce and will have the honor to perform at this year’s Z100 and Coca-Cola All Access Lounge.
