Emmis Communications CEO Jeff Smulyan said the third quarter was challenging for the radio group owner and he confirmed the company has taken steps to remedy the situation, including staff reductions and executive pay cuts.
Speaking to Wall Street analysts in an earnings call, Smulyan described the job cuts as “painful,” as the company restructures expenses to better align them with the current operating environment.
