Sinclair looking to lawyer up

SBG / Sinclair Broadcast GroupIt’s one thing to have a friend who is an attorney, or to have a go-to legal eagle for those rare instances when one is needed, or even to have one on retainer. It is another thing entirely to have the wherewithal to add an attorney on your payroll, and Sinclair Broadcasting Group is very much in the latter category.

But having your very own attorney is something you can afford to do and perhaps heed to do when, like SBGI, you have 167 television stations scattered throughout 77 markets nationwide (counting pending transactions).

The new hire will work out of the group’s Hunt Valley MD headquarters. From the SGGI help wanted ad we found on Linked In: “Successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of legal work involving, compliance with Federal communications law, regulatory and enforcement matters affecting our TV stations, First Amendment review and other broadcast matters. Successful candidate may also have involvement in contract negotiation, mergers and acquisitions and employment matters.”

The winner of the post will need at least three years in the biz, along with the usual abilities to work and play well with others, work hard, work independently and demonstrate leadership abilities.
