One of the most famous voices in the history of U.S. Hispanic radio is back on Southern California’s airwaves.

Tomorrow (6/24) marks the second edition of El Cucuy y Mayra Berenice, a Saturday midday talk and entertainment show airing weekly from 10am-2pm on Entravision‘s Classic Regional Mexican Hits station serving Los Angeles, KSSE-FM 107.1 “La Suavecita.”

“El Cucuy” is known as Renán Almendárez Coello, a Spanish-language air personality who enjoyed top ratings in morning drive at such stations as Univision Radio’s KSCA-FM 101.9 and, from 2004-2008, at SBS’s KLAX-FM 97.9 “La Raza.”

At KSCA, he became known as “El Cucuy de la Manana,” and held the title of the No. 1 morning drive personality in Los Angeles for some 5 1/2 years, or 22 consecutive Arbitron surveys spanning Summer 1998 to Winter 2003. From spring 2003 until his March 2004 exit, “El Cucuy” held KSCA’s afternoon time slot.

Berenice holds the 10am-3pm weekday shift on La Suavecita, which was formerly Spanish Hot AC “Súper Estrella” for many years until a format change earlier this year.
