Long-time owner/operator Russ Kimble has sold WYLF-850 AM in Penn Yan, NY (located in the Finger Lakes area of Western NY) to first time owner Jeff Pearce. WYLF operates with 1,000 watts daytime and 45 watts nighttime. Russ was the morning man/news director of WYLF as well as the owner since 1984. He has retired to spend more time with his wife of 35 years- Debbie, who has pancreatic and lung cancer. Jeff Pearce has moved to Penn Yan from Helena, MT and Orlando and is operating the station under a Time Brokerage Agreement pending FCC approval of the sale. The purchase price was $450,000. The transaction was handled by Kozacko Media Services.

  1. To WhomEver this May Concern:

I was totally appalled to find out this radio station will not and does not any longer give the morning news. I need to say that I looked forward to hearing the local news and to play Trivia every morning while preparing for my day. Unfortunately, with all this and with Russ, an old schoolmate not being a part of this radio station, leaves me to say I will no longer be listening to your station as I will look for a radio station that will at least bring the local news to its listener.

So long WYLF . . . . So much for Russ and Deb!!

  2. I agree with the two comments above. My husband enjoyed listening to your station from 1989 until recently when they decided to get rid of Don Radigan and replace him with nothing. No local news or sports no trivia or summer fun, A bulletin board that’s out of date. We want it back the way it was.
