Remote control turns 57

TV RemoteNobody has ever suggested that getting up and striding across the room to change channels on the television set was an effective exercise regimen. But it became endangered nevertheless in December 1957 when the introduction of the remote control began breeding couch potatoes.

According to a Census Bureau release, the first patent holder was Robert Adler of Zenith.
