News Anchor/Reporter

Wenatchee & Tri-Cities, WA – I’m hiring several good anchor/reporters, and I need more! Position supports the news department at both Washington state heritage signals, News Radio 560 KPQ/Wenatchee and News Radio 610 KONA/Tri-Cities. News gathering, writing, and on-air reporting…attending pressers and events, recording and editing audio for newscasts and digital postings…conducting interviews and presenting recorded and real time newscasts…posting stories and related news content online with associated graphics. Monitor police, fire and other emergency agency scanners, as well as posting pertinent information to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and such. Other duties: enterprising stories and promoting listener/viewer interaction. All news employees are required to attend promotional events as needed or required by the Regional Program Director, News Director or General Manager.

A minimum associates degree in Media, Communications, or Journalism required, and at least 2-years newsroom experience. No rip and readers, as this is not a position for beginners. Most importantly, you MUST write in either Mervin Block Method or present tense form.

We expect excellent communications skills, proficiency in digital editing and social, understanding of journalistic ethics and standard, plus, a positive, team-player attitude. No “rogue journalists”. We need all applicant materials now. You MUST have the following in your package: at least one newscast, three references, five story samples, and a resume.
