NCIS finales wins for CBS Tuesday

CBSThe season finales of NCIS and NCIS: LOS ANGELES led CBS to a Tuesday win in viewers and key demographics, including its best adult 18-49 delivery on the night since January, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for May 15.


The season finale of NCIS was first in households (11.8/19), viewers (18.70m), adults 25-54 (4.9/13) and adults 18-49 (3.5/11).  NCIS posted its best deliveries in both households and viewers since March 20, 2012, and its best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 performances since March 27, 2012. NCIS was Tuesday’s #1 program in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

The two-hour season finale of NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in households (9.6/15), viewers (15.12m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08).

For the night, CBS was first in households (10.3/16), viewers (16.32m), adults 25-54 (4.4/11) and adults 18-49 (3.2/09).  CBS posted its best Tuesday deliveries in viewers since Feb. 7, 2012, since Feb. 14, 2012 in adults 25-54 and Jan. 10, 2012 in adults 18-49.  CBS finales won both Monday and Tuesday this week in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

Leaping over its lead-in (“Cougar Town”) at 9:00 p.m. in viewers (+291%) and young adults (+120%) opposite CBS’ season finale of “NCIS: LA,” ABC’s “DWTS Results Show” (12.9 million) outdrew the second hour of NBC’s 2-hour premiere of “America’s Got Talent” by 2.4 million viewers (10.5 million) and the second hour of Fox’s 2-hour “Glee” by 6.9 million viewers (6.0 million).  Actress, author and the host of TV’s “Extra” Maria Menounos was the next celebrity eliminated from the competition this season.

“Private Practice” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Spiking in its season finale against increased competition from the second hour of CBS’ 2-hour “NCIS: LA” finale, ABC’s “Private Practice” beat out NBC’s season finale of “Fashion Star” by 2.2 million viewers (7.1 million vs. 4.9 million) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/5 vs. 1.6/4) during the 10 o’clock hour.  In addition, the ABC drama ranked No. 2 in its slot with Adults 25-54 and key Women (W18-49/W25-54).

In its season closer, “Private Practice” shot up over the prior week by 22% in Total Viewers, by 29% in Adults 18-49 and by 30% in Adults 25-54.

  1. I cannot believe they took out David McCullum. He was so good on the show. Such a bummer, and I just don’t think he can be replaced with anyone else.

  2. Ducky has to be back next year…. he is irreplaceable. My bet is that Jimmy finds him on the beach….. gives CPR and the show has him recovering in the hospital. When a group is as close and as good as the NCIS team is, the producers aren’t nuts…. they’ll keep it together… You don’t rock the boat when you have the Number 1 rated show in the country.

  3. Every time i find a show i love, you have to kill off someone!! I love all the cast members. They are a family. Please , please have every one come back!!!!!
