NBC No. 4 spot Wednesday 'Up All Night'

At 8 p.m. ET, “Up All Night” (2.1/6 in adults 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) is up 62 percent versus the 1.3 rating NBC averaged in this time period last season (“live plus same day,” non-sports), despite intense time-period competition that included CBS’s “Survivor,” ABC’s “The Middle” and Fox’s baseball playoffs  In total viewers, “Up All  Night” topped NBC’s slot average from last season by 9 percent (5.238 million vs. 4.804 million).


Versus NBC’s result in the half-hour on the same night last year, “Up All Night” is up by 50 percent (2.1 vs. 1.4). 

Note that “Up All Night” added 46 percent to its next-day “live plus same day” rating when Nielsen issued “live plus seven day” results for premiere week, the biggest increase for any comedy on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox and second biggest for any primetime series on those networks.

At 8:30 ET, an encore telecast of “Whitney” (1.4/4 in adults 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) hit season highs for NBC in this time period in both adult 18-49 and total viewers against slot competition that included the second half-hour of CBS’s “Survivor,” ABC’s “Suburgatory” and Fox’s baseball playoffs.   Week to week in the half-hour, NBC is up 40 percent in 18-49 rating (1.4 vs. 1.0) and 22 percent in total viewers (3.969 million vs. 3.254 million).

The “Whitney” encore delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in this time period on an in-season Wednesday since February 9.
 
At 9 p.m. ET, “Harry’s Law” (1.2/3 in adults 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) maintained its 18-49 rating of the first three weeks of the new television season.  In total viewers, “Harry Law” so far this fall has delivered NBC’s four biggest audiences in the time period on an in-season Wednesday since February 2.   Versus NBC’s total-viewer average in the time slot last season, this week’s “Harry’s Law” is up 36 percent (7.837 million vs. 5.752 million, “live plus same day,” non-sports).

Note that “Harry’s Law” increased by 42 percent versus this next-day “live plus same day” rating when Nielsen issued “live plus seven day” results for premiere week.

At 10 p.m. ET, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2.1/5 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 75 percent in 18-49 rating while competing dramas on ABC and CBS were down versus their 18-49 lead-ins.  “SVU” matched its 18-49 rating of the prior two weeks.  Last night’s “SVU” also grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings categories — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers — including gains of 10 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2 from a 2.0) and 8 percent in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 7.0 million), while rival dramas on ABC and CBS declined in all key categories.

Note that “Law & Order: SVU” grew by 45 percent over this next-day “live plus same day” rating when Nielsen issued “live plus seven day” results for premiere week, the second-biggest increase for any drama on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox and third biggest for any primetime series on those networks.
