Nashville AM set to change hands

Trevecca Nazarene University has decided to spin off its AM station, 760 kHz WENO-AM Nashville TN, and the buyer is going to be Anchor Broadcasting, headed by Russ Jones.

According to broker John Pierce, who handled the deal, the price for the station will be $335K cash. Once the deal closes, it will constitute a de facto AM duopoly with 1240 WNVL-AM, which Pierce says is being LMA’d by the buyer.
It’s expected that Jones will put an Urban Gospel format on the station.

WENO puts out 1 kW of power from its 760 perch on the AM dial while the sun is shining (or during those hours during which it can be reasonably expected to shine barring cloudy conditions). It is required to sign off at night.
