Montgomery CP has tenant ready and waiting

1

SoldWGMP-FM CP is licensed to Coosada AL and will put a serviceable signal over the center of the market. Not only that, it will not begin life as a standalone stick – a local radio cluster is ready to strike an LMA with buyer Kathleen Schaefer McQueen once her deal to buy the station is closed and it makes it onto the air.

McQueen is getting the station in a stock deal which will give her 100% control of license company Liberty Acquisition 825 LLC. The seller is Joseph Wortley.

The price is $100K cash.

The CP calls for a Class A on 93.1 MHz with 3.1 kW @ 464’.

On the application, McQueen noted that approval of the deal fits well with the FCC’s stated goal of increasing the amount of minority and female ownership – she will of course improve the female number.

The upcoming LMA will be with Bluewater Broadcasting Company LLC, headed by Richard Pestrichelli. A notable stakeholder in Bluewater is Scott McQueen, who holds 23% — and also happens to be the husband of the buyer.

However, Scott McQueen’s holdings matter little in the greater scheme of things – he does not have a controlling interest in Bluewater, nor is he an employee of that company. And even if he was, it would be legal for Bluewater to flat-out acquire WGMP.

The stations Bluewater already has in the Montgomery market include Talk WACV on 1170 kHz, Classic Hit WQKS on 96.1 MHz, Country WBAM on 98.9 MHz and Urban WJWZ on 97.9 MHz.
In order to accommodate the addition of WGMP to the cluster, Bluewater will terminate an existing LMA with Alexander Broadcasting and its Classic Rock WMRK-FM.
